My master named me The Patriot as I was with him in Baltimore Harbor. After the bombardment by the British, Francis Scott Key wrote the words to The Star Spangled Banner . My master and I fought in the War of 1812. Having been very proud of being Americans, we wanted to display our patriotism by having me tattooed with symbols of America. I am delighted. As a canine, I am happy to enjoy the freedom that we have here. I am sure that all dogs share my feelings toward America and that they understand why I have allowed what might be thought of as an exploitation of my person. I believe a little chauvinism is in order these days.
