I'm the Grand Marshal Bulldog. Clad in my tux and top hat, I await the company of Windsor residents each year. I stand sturdily, quietly enjoying the festivities of the Shad Derby.

I have a very prestigious history. I am a descendant of brave and strong leaders who battled against bulls in Europe during the 13th Century. Following much travel through Europe, my ancestors came to the United States to start a better life away from all the fighting.

I was an energetic young pup who loved to play. As I grew up, I became more like my forefathers " strong, brave, and quite the leader. My first honor came from defending my home and family against an intruder.

Through the years, I have had many accomplishments. I would like thank my sponsor, Rabbett Insurance Company, for giving me this latest honor of becoming Grand Marshal, Shad Derby. It means a great deal to have the support of a company that is always looking for ways to assist their community and has been involved in the Shad Derby for many years.

Hello, my name is Jackson "Paw"llock. As you might guess, I am named for the famous American artist Jackson Pollock, who made a great impact on the art world with his approach to painting. His works contain an enormous sense of power and raw emotion. Don t you think that s an appropriate connection for a majestic German Shepard? Actually, I m very kind and lovable, which just goes to show what surprises dogs (and people) have to offer. You can tell that, like Jackson Pollock, I have a different approach to painting, but a large house painters brush in my mouth and a can of paint on my foot works fine for me. I hope you appreciate the humo

My name is Ashley Ball. I live in Storrs, Connecticut. My father is a basketball coach in a local high school. My mother teaches English at the same school and also coaches girls soccer. Both my parents went to UConn and have been huge fans of all UConn sport teams ever since. It was only natural that as their child I became a UConn fan myself. I especially love Women s basketball. I never miss a game. I dream that once I graduate high school and go to UConn to study history I ll be able to be a part of the team that I so adore. I know that it will take a lot of hard work, so I train very hard. I run every morning and I play basketball every day after school. I also know that if I want to get accepted to UConn I must get good grades, so I study very hard. My parents tell me that they are very proud of my accomplishments as a student and an athlete and I will do everything in my power to keep them proud. My biggest dream is that one day they ll be able to see me play basketball at the Gampel Pavilion.
