The Windsor Education Foundation (WEF) on Saturday announced that the winner of the “Two Tickets to Anywhere” raffle is Kathryn Gregory. Ms. Gregory is an English teacher at Sage Park Middle School. “Congratulations to Katie,” said President, Paula Pierce. “She is the lucky winner of two round trip tickets, out of almost 300 people who entered.”

“I am so thankful to have won the tickets (and on my birthday none-the-less)!” said Gregory. “I entered because the funds were going to an excellent cause and the odds of winning were pretty good.”
The tickets were generously donated to WEF by Jet Blue through the charity work of WEF Board member, Ann Tomkowit. “Ann could have kept those tickets for herself, but she wanted to help raise funds for WEF. That’s the kind of strong dedication our board members have for education in Windsor.”
Gregory was excited to get the news. “Never would I have guessed that I would purchase the winning ticket,” she said. “My husband and I are thinking of visiting England including Shakespeare’s house. I’ll be able to give my students a first hand account when we study Romeo & Juliet next year.”
The Windsor Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non profit organization made up of volunteers that awards grants up to $1,500 to Windsor educators. In choosing grant recipients, WEF looks for a variety of proposals from all grade levels and schools that 1) Are consistent with Windsor Board of Education goals, 2) Impact students with varying learning abilities, 3) Fall outside the regular operating budget, 4) Will ultimately impact/benefit a large number of individuals,  5) Encourage professional collaboration, and 6) Promote school and community communication. Donations are greatly appreciated.
